Charlotte, Monroe and Columbia Railroad
The Charlotte, Monroe and Columbia Railroad was a shortline railroad that served South Carolina in the early 20th century.
The line was incorporated in 1901〔(Private laws of the state of North-Carolina passed by the General Assembly, 1901, page 451 )〕 and construction was completed in 1903.〔(the Heart of the South, The Seaboard Air Line Railroad Story, Robert Wayne Johnson, page 104 )〕
The line ran between McBee, South Carolina, and Jefferson, South Carolina.〔(Annual Report of the Railroad Commissioner of the state of South Carolina, 1912, page 322 )〕
The company was reorganized in both 1908 and 1909. Long controlled by the Seaboard Air Line Railroad, the Charlotte, Monroe and Columbia got rid of last locomotive in 1930 and used Seaboard locomotives afterward.〔(the Heart of the South, The Seaboard Air Line Railroad Story, Robert Wayne Johnson, page 104 )〕
It eventually became part of the Seaboard Air Line Railroad and the line was abandoned in 1940.〔(the Heart of the South, The Seaboard Air Line Railroad Story, Robert Wayne Johnson, page 104 )〕
